Change in culture and communities

In today’s modern world, westernization and present-day lifestyles are resulting in people, especially the younger generation, losing touch with their roots. “Change in Culture and Communities” is about acknowledging and reversing that shift by reconnecting with the customs, languages, and identities that are slowly disappearing. This is a global issue. Worldwide, communities overlook their unique and distinctive customs and cultural identities, eroding social bonds and erasing valuable legacies. In our local community, we found that many students couldn't speak or express their native tongue or their cultural traditions. Through surveys and interviews, we focus on reviving interest and pride in our cultural lineage.

Why is this issue important globally?

Culture is more than tradition—it’s identity, knowledge, and connection. But around the world, communities are changing fast as urbanisation spreads, the traditional customs ,languages and  morals are fading away resulting to a loss of diversity and connection to our roots. global media and fast lifestyles is creating uniformity among all the cultures -- local uniqueness is fading.people are migrating more than ever, causing shifts in local traditions, values and community's contentedness. The worst part is the current generations is  often growing up disconnected from their culture which can lead to identity confusion and disinterest in conserving it.The list is endless ,cultural  erosion not only impacts mental health but also social well being as they are distanced from their roots ,which affects their confidence and sense of belonging to their culture.Last, cultural preservation supports peace and tolerance as learning about and respecting other cultures helps fight stereotypes and social division worldwide.

How it's impacting local  communities?

The changing nature of culture and communities has a significant impact on local life in many ways, such as loss of traditional values and customs as the crucial cultural traditions, skills and wisdom is fading away with time. One of the major problem is the erosion of native languages, due to the western influence the Indigenous or local languages are disappearing, lessening cultural identity and communication among generations. Also, the transferring of morals and lifestyles is creating generational gaps reducing community unity.

Western influences or migration is also giving rise to people feeling disconnected from their roots.Last but no the least, the upcoming future generation are and will w=face identity struggles and loss of variety as cultures are globalizing ,individuals especially youngsters may struggle to balance tradition and modernism, causing confusion and diminishing cultural diversity.

Local community and culture aren't just roots—they're the heartbeat that keeps our traditions alive and our diversity thriving!"
